What is the proposal?
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act proposes a U.S. digital-asset market-structure framework. Its goal is to clarify how certain digital assets and market participants fall under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Why is it different from GENIUS?
GENIUS addresses payment stablecoin issuance and is enacted law. CLARITY addresses broader digital-asset market structure and remains proposed legislation until the required legislative steps are completed.
What it does not do
A proposed U.S. law does not establish the price of any token, recognize a community valuation, approve Pi Network, or authorize a business to operate in another jurisdiction.
Implications for Africa
U.S. regulatory definitions may influence international exchanges, developers and compliance practices. African enterprises must still check their own jurisdiction’s legal requirements.
