HILEX Digital is independent of Pi Network. This article distinguishes official documentation, economic reasoning and unverified community claims. It does not recommend buying or selling Pi, and it does not endorse a fixed or guaranteed valuation.

1. What does “1 Pi = 1 Pi” mean?

One Pi is always one unit of Pi, just as one bitcoin is one bitcoin. This is an identity statement, not a claim about how much food, electricity or local currency a Pi can buy.

Unit of accountA unit in which a seller states prices.
Medium of exchangeAn asset accepted to settle a payment.
Store of valueAn asset's ability to retain purchasing power over time.
Key lesson: “1 Pi = 1 Pi” does not establish a US-dollar peg, a guaranteed exchange rate or a particular community valuation.

2. Pi utility versus exchange-market value

Utility describes what people can do with an asset, such as paying for services or using applications. Market price describes the rate at which buyers and sellers trade it. The two are related, but they are not interchangeable.

A blockchain can continue to process transactions even if its token's market price changes. Yet merchants often need to pay suppliers, wages and taxes in local or foreign currency, so external prices and liquidity can influence what they charge in Pi.

Example, not a current quotation: A merchant prices an item at 100 Pi. If the exchange value of Pi changes before the merchant replaces inventory, the merchant may need to revise the Pi price. Stable Pi-denominated prices cannot be assumed.

3. Is Kraken KYB-verified by Pi Network?

Yes. Pi Network's official KYB-verified businesses list names Kraken. Pi's official Pi Day 2026 announcement also identifies Kraken as an exchange that integrated support for Pi. These are stronger sources than screenshots or community claims.

What KYB means—and does not mean

Know Your Business (KYB) is a business verification process. Inclusion on Pi's official list indicates the business is KYB-verified for Pi's stated integration purposes. It does not guarantee the safety of trading, promise profits, or establish a fixed token price.

Is Pi on an exchange different from Pi in a Pi Wallet?

Where an exchange supports genuine Pi Mainnet deposits and withdrawals, the underlying asset transferred on-chain is Pi. However, an exchange account balance is usually a custodial claim recorded in the exchange's internal system until withdrawal; it is not identical to holding Pi directly in a self-custody wallet. Always verify the platform, supported network and deposit/withdrawal status. Historic IOUs or unrelated lookalike tokens should not be confused with transferable Mainnet Pi.

4. How should merchants price goods in Pi?

Businesses need a repeatable pricing policy rather than relying on slogans or social-media valuations.

  1. Calculate costs and desired margin in the currency used to pay suppliers.
  2. Choose a transparent, current conversion reference and record its timestamp.
  3. Display the Pi price and clarify when the quote expires.
  4. Check fees, payment finality, liquidity and local accounting or tax requirements.
  5. Reconcile receipts and reassess prices when conditions change.
Illustrative calculation: If an item costs US$20 and a hypothetical reference rate is US$0.25 per Pi, the indicative price is 80 Pi before fees or margin adjustments. This is mathematics, not a live market rate.

5. Can an internal Pi economy avoid market volatility?

Communities can agree on Pi prices, but those agreements do not automatically eliminate external purchasing-power changes. Stable prices require economic mechanisms and willing counterparties; a reference to dollars alone is not a dollar peg.

A stablecoin is a separate category of cryptoasset designed to track a reference value using particular reserves or stabilization mechanisms. Stablecoins can still carry issuer, redemption, depegging and operational risks.

Unverified claim: A circulated infographic describes an “OUSD” link protecting Pi's internal economy. The infographic alone does not establish an official Pi–OUSD integration or price-stabilization mechanism. Do not present this claim as fact without primary technical documentation.

6. Pi's technical evolution: test, release, verify

Pi Network progressed through testing and Enclosed Mainnet phases before its Open Network launch on 20 February 2025. Product features do not all become available simultaneously: development, Testnet deployment, Mainnet deployment and broad adoption are separate milestones.

StageWhat it tells usWhat it does not prove
Concept / proposalA feature is planned or under discussion. That it works on Mainnet.
TestnetA feature can be tested with non-production assets. That Testnet tokens or transactions become real Mainnet value.
Mainnet releaseA production capability has been deployed. That all users can access it or that it has widespread use.
Real-world adoptionUsers and businesses are using a feature. That token prices or returns are guaranteed.

In its Pi Day 2026 announcement, Pi Network described its Launchpad as being on Testnet, its DEX as existing on Testnet at that time, and smart-contract rollout as gradual. These distinctions contradict a blanket claim that every feature activated together at Open Network launch.

7. Claim checker: fact, interpretation or unverified?

ClaimHILEX assessment
“1 Pi = 1 Pi” fixes purchasing power.Incorrect inference. Unit identity is not price stability.
Kraken is on Pi's official KYB list.Verified. Confirm directly on Pi's official KYB page.
Pi utility is completely insulated from exchange prices.Unsupported generalization. Commercial costs and liquidity still matter.
Pi is definitively not a security anywhere.Overstated. Legal treatment depends on jurisdiction and facts.
Pi uses OUSD to protect internal prices.Unverified. Requires official technical evidence.
All AMM and smart-contract functions launched simultaneously with Open Network.Contradicted by phased rollout descriptions. Verify each feature's release status separately.

8. Frequently asked questions

Does 1 Pi = 1 Pi mean Pi has a fixed dollar price?

No. It means one unit equals one unit; it does not specify the exchange rate or purchasing power.

Has Pi Network KYB-verified Kraken?

Pi Network includes Kraken on its official list of KYB-verified businesses. Check the live KYB list for current status.

Is exchange-traded Pi the same asset as Mainnet Pi?

Genuine Pi Mainnet deposits and withdrawals involve the Pi blockchain asset. Exchange account balances are custodial records until withdrawal; verify network support and beware of IOUs or unrelated tokens.

Are Pi DEX, AMM and smart contracts all live on Mainnet?

Do not assume so. Pi's March 2026 announcement described DEX/Launchpad Testnet activity and a staged smart-contract rollout. Check newer official release notes for current production status.

Can businesses accept Pi without taking price risk?

They can manage some risk through timely conversion, price updates and payment policies, but no method automatically eliminates all volatility, liquidity or operational risk.

9. Quick knowledge check

1. “1 Pi = 1 Pi” proves:
2. Where can you confirm Kraken's Pi KYB status?
3. A feature on Testnet is necessarily live on Mainnet.
