Cybersecurity for SMEs
A small business can lose money, customer trust and operating time through one compromised email, phone or payment account. Basic controls matter.
Protect accounts
Use unique passwords and two-factor authentication where available. Do not share administrator accounts unnecessarily.
Defend against phishing
Treat urgent payment changes, password requests, suspicious links and impersonation attempts as verification events.
Back up critical data
Keep recoverable copies of important records and periodically test that they can actually be restored.
Control staff access
Give people only the access they need and remove access promptly when roles change.
Plan for incidents
Know who will change passwords, contact providers, warn customers and restore operations if something goes wrong.
